Lord, Jesus,
I’m told you came to earth to live with us
and to show us your love.
I don’t know that much about your life beyond my view,
but I’d have to say that being God must be a lot more fun for you
than being human.
Yet you stay here with us,
experiencing our highs and lows.
And you tell us in so many ways that you will never leave us.
I admire people I know
who can make something difficult look easy,
like some athletes.
But I identify better with those
who have to work hard to achieve something.
Lord,
is it more enjoyable for you to stay with us,
being part of our humanity?
Is it easy for you?
Or do you have to work at it?
Either way,
help me to become as fully human as I can,
and to love others as you have,
despite the pain they can cause.
