You are unhappy.
And you blame me.
I am your God,
but you do not want me to be myself.
You want me to do your will,
and answer all your prayers your way and right now.
You’re always ordering me to do this and that.
You treat me as your very powerful slave.
But then, if I submitted to your demands, I would not be God.
When you pray,
you do all the talking,
even though I have so much to say to you.
But you don’t listen,
because you are afraid I don’t know what you need - or want - from me.
I know I’m not the God you want me to be.
Actually, I do meet your needs, but you rarely notice.
You seem so preoccupied with getting me to control what you want to control,
that you no longer just want to spend time with me.
I want to be a good friend to you.
I want to listen to your life stories.
I will go wherever you go.
But you need to listen to me,
and understand what I can be for you as your friend.
If you treated your other friends as slaves,
they wouldn’t be friends for long.
I’m asking for the same respect you give your best friends.
If you’re still in the market for a really good friend,
someone who loves you unconditionally,
just let me know.
Don’t be unhappy with me.
I may not be the God you currently want me to be.
But I am the God you really need.
I’ll still be here.
