Catch the Moment

God has used many forms and images to talk to us,
                    like
                    earthquakes,
                    fires,
                    burning shrubs,
                    howling winds,
                    and even
                    silence.

This same loving God
has been a force-field of fondness,
living through people we have come to admire,
                some who have been famous,
                and also
                powerful in their dedication,
who have been driven from within
                                to touch others
                                in life-changing ways.

We would all love to be like them.
But would we just want their fame?
Would we really allow God to work in us?
    Could we pay the price,
passing up the glories pursued by the loveless?

Most of us will not ever have the fame,
                    nor the visibility
                        of God’s well-known messengers.

We will just have to content ourselves with
                    meeting God
in the next person or image
                                  we encounter.

It will happen again soon,
            very soon.

But will we catch the moment,
          see God's presence,
          feel the love,
          and
          answer back into the mystery?
