Lord,
     my friend,
          and my partner.

I know I've treated you like a rich uncle,
          being nice to you only when I wanted stuff.

But I've grown beyond that now.
And I'm looking for the next level of relationship with you.

I know you know this already.
I just need to hear myself say it.

I want to be friends with you,
               and spend time with you.
I would like to know what's on your mind too.

When things go through my mind,
     both good and bad,
          I'd like to run them by you and hear what you think.

But you are hard to picture in my mind.
So can we work out a simple way of communicating?
