I’m stressed out,
isolated like a sheep in a flooded field.
Where are you, Lord?
We’ve had our moments of closeness
when I was sure you would always be with me,
when I knew I could never leave you, either.
But one stressful event after another has left me stranded,
looking for a way out,
needing the reassurance of your presence,
your love,
your power.
And, Lord,
while I wait for some sign of you,
the waters in my pasture are rising.
I normally don’t call out to you like this,
because we have a good friendship,
and you have built up my trust.
But sometimes these feelings of panic set in,
and I have a hard time finding those trusting feelings.
While I wait for you to show yourself again,
I will remember our good times together.
And I will trust that you are still taking care of me,
even when I don’t always see you.
